When you enter a query into the search bar and do not select a bookmark, you will see a general search option at the bottom of the suggestions list.
Clicking this option will automatically:

Forward your search query to the search engine you have selected

Open the results in a new tab using that search provider

How to Select a Default Search Engine

Click the menu icon in the top-right corner

Navigate to “Search Engine” in the settings menu

Your selection will take immediate effect and can be changed at any time.
